About Us

By Kris

My name is Kristen Fredricks. I live in the Western New York area and my dear friend, co-worker, and co-author is Jeanie Wade. We worked together for many years in Western New York until Jeanie was transferred to Baltimore, Maryland in 2006. We are not famous psychologists or self-help gurus. Neither of us is an English major nor are we literature buffs. We are your average 40+ women (one a “kid mom” and one a “dog mom”) who are often characterized as being a dynamic duo.

Jeanie is a practical realist who brings a calmness to most situations. She has a sense of humor that is infectious and you can’t help but smile when you’re around her. She tackles some of the biggest projects without hesitation. When Jeanie sets her mind to something, you can be guaranteed, whatever it is, will be a success.

I am a warm, caring, friendly, outgoing, and a very positive person. I am frequently told, “You are one of the most positive people I know”, and once during an evaluation at work my boss told me I was “almost too positive to a fault.”

In addition to having a positive attitude, I have a habit of scrambling common sayings into what Jeanie coined as “Krisisms.” An example is “Nip it in the butt” rather than “Nip it in the bud.”  Over time, Jeanie has been exposed to more of my phrases and she created a list of the Krisisms. We have had many laughs over the mixed-up phrases.

The “Krisism” tag caught on, and my co-workers, friends and husband started catching me when I said them. After Jeanie moved to Baltimore and took a new job, anytime I said a Krisism, someone  would email Jeanie to let her know what the latest phrase was. She would update the list and take the opportunity to re-send it to the gang. With every new “ism”, there is always  a few emails back and forth teasing me about the latest phrase or even commenting on one of the former ‘Krisisms.”

I always said that the joke would be on them when I wrote a book about my “isms” and I became famous. Well, in 2011, I decided to take a journey and write a book about my positive attitude and use “Krisisms” to communicate my thoughts. I struggled  to write the book because I was missing one important element- the originator of “Krisisms”- Jeanie!

Long story short, we decided to write one book together. As we started writing the book, we realized we have much more material than one book. We outlined ideas for a series of books Jeanie called a “Krispective” on life. We bought domain names, started a company, and launched the What’s Your ‘Spective? blog.

A lot has happened since December 2011 and it sure has been exciting. The first book in the “Krispective” series, “Nip It- Stop Negativity Moment by Moment” was released in April of 2014.  In August, “Nip It” won a Silver Medal in Dan Poynter’s Global Ebook Awards Contest.

We are currently working on Book #2 in the Krispective series, “Flip It.” We hope to have that released in 2015.

In the meantime, we continue to use the blog to promote positive perspectives and challenge you to become aware of your ‘spective on life.

Have a great day!
